Newly Appointed Sport Minister Gayton McKenzie Aims to Elevate Car Spinning in South Africa
South Africa’s newly appointed Minister of Sport, Gayton McKenzie, has unveiled his vision to elevate the status of car spinning in the country. McKenzie, who was appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa, expressed his commitment to making spinning one of the premier sports in the nation.
McKenzie declared that spinning is not a crime and that he intends to bring the activity into the limelight. He assured the spinning community that their talents would be recognized and appreciated under his leadership.
Car spinning, which involves driving vehicles in circles and performing stunts, is regulated by specific conditions to ensure safety and controlled environments for the sport. McKenzie’s plans align with his passion for sports and his desire to provide opportunities for aspiring athletes in unconventional fields.
The South African Music Industry Council and the National Film and Video Foundation were among the organizations that welcomed McKenzie’s appointment. Notable personalities such as sports enthusiast Mama Joy Chauke and sports broadcaster Robert Marawa also expressed their support for the new minister.
McKenzie emphasized the power of sports in transforming children’s lives and steering them away from crime and negative influences. He pledged to work closely with the sporting community to revitalize the department of sport, arts, and culture under his tenure.
Peace Mabe, who serves as McKenzie’s deputy, adds another layer of leadership and experience to the ministry. With a strong team in place, McKenzie is poised to make a significant impact on the sports landscape in South Africa.
