Maxx Crosby Lamar Jackson Josh Allen Nfl Playoff

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — As the NFL Divisional Round approaches, the debate over which quarterback is tougher to defend in clutch moments has taken center stage. Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, a two-time All-Pro, weighed in on the topic during a recent appearance on NFL Network‘s ‘Good Morning Football.’

When asked whether he would rather face Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson or Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen in a high-pressure situation, Crosby didn’t hesitate. “I’ve played both of them. Both are incredible talents. If I’m on defense, I might say I’d rather go against Lamar. No offense. They’re both incredible, but I think Josh Allen has shown it over and over again,” Crosby said.

Crosby highlighted Allen’s ability to deliver in critical moments, particularly in the playoffs. “Even in the losses to the Chiefs, in those big games in the playoffs, Josh Allen was still having career games, he just didn’t have the ball last. So I feel like Josh Allen, he’s got the clutch gene for sure,” Crosby added.

The Raiders defender referenced Allen’s performance in the infamous “13 seconds” game against the Kansas City Chiefs in January 2022. With just over a minute left, Allen led the Bills on a game-winning drive, completing a 19-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Davis with 13 seconds remaining. “He’s so dangerous running and throwing the ball. He can make all the throws,” Crosby said. “Also, he’s as big as me, so that being a-whole-nother challenge.”

In contrast, Crosby has had more success against Jackson. The Raiders defeated the Ravens in Week 2 of the 2024 season, with Crosby recording two sacks against Jackson. Over their two career matchups, Crosby has four sacks against Jackson, while he has only managed one sack against Allen in their two meetings.

Allen’s track record against Crosby’s Raiders is impressive. In two games, Allen has thrown for an average of 281 yards per game, with six total touchdowns and no interceptions. His average passer rating in those games is 120.2. Jackson, on the other hand, has struggled against Crosby, with an average passer rating of 90.0 and only two total touchdowns in their two matchups.

As the Bills and Ravens prepare for their Divisional Round clash, Crosby’s comments add an intriguing layer to the narrative. Whether his preference for facing Jackson over Allen holds weight will be tested on the field this weekend.
