2025 NFL Draft Predictions: Teams Eye Top Prospects and Potential Trades

GREEN BAY, Wis. — As the prospect-evaluation period of the 2025 NFL Draft approaches its conclusion, analysts are offering their updated predictions for Round 1, set to take place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. With several high-profile trades likely on the horizon, analysts maintain their focus on players’ current draft slots.
In his latest mock draft, NFL Media analyst Charles Davis forecasts that the Miami Dolphins will secure University of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders with the first overall pick. Davis notes that the Tennessee Titans continue to hold strong at the No. 1 spot.
“Sanders fits head coach Kevin Stefanski’s run-first, heavy play-action scheme perfectly,” Davis said. “His ability to adapt to the NFL pace makes him an immediate contender for the starting position in Tennessee.”
The rest of the top picks feature a mix of quarterbacks and defensive talents. At No. 2, the Cleveland Browns are projected to select Penn State linebacker/edge rusher Olu Fashanu, forming a potentially fearsome pass-rushing duo by pairing him with fellow linebacker Jalen Carter.
“A Carter-Fashanu pairing could develop into one of the most explosive pass-rushing tandems in the league,” Davis wrote. “It’s an ideal fit for the Browns as they look to bolster their defense further.”
Following them at No. 3, Davis predicts that the New York Giants will take Colorado wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter, providing offensive flexibility and immediate impact. “Hunter could start for the Giants at either corner or receiver,” Davis said, adding that his versatility significantly enhances the team’s prospects.
For the New England Patriots, Davis anticipates drafting Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou at No. 4, addressing their need for protection around quarterback Mac Jones. “Membou’s adaptability will allow him to play multiple positions along the offensive line,” he commented.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, now seeking offensive reinforcements, are expected to take Michigan tight end Tyler Warren at No. 5. “Warren offers an explosive presence in the receiving game, aligning well with their strategy to improve offensive output,” Davis stated.
Among the other notable picks includes a projected landing for Marshall edge rusher Mike Green to the San Francisco 49ers at No. 11. Analysts are bullish on Green’s performance in the Senior Bowl, where he showcased his capacity to make substantial plays.
“Green not only recorded significant statistics during his college career but also demonstrated his capability of performing on a big stage,” Davis added. “He is well-positioned to contribute to the 49ers’ defensive system.”
The draft’s excitement also surrounds potential trades. Davis posits that teams hungry for quarterbacks may look to leapfrog one another. “In this environment, teams might reconsider their draft strategies, particularly if coveted players show they are likely to slip,” he noted.
The NFL Draft embodies hope for franchises aiming to reshape their rosters. Predictions and analyses will continue to evolve as the event draws nearer. As Davis concluded, “Expect more bold moves and trades as teams position themselves for the best available talent.”
