2025 Nfl Draft Running Back Prospects

GREEN BAY, Wis. — As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches set for April 24-26, one analyst highlights the depth of the running back class in this year’s selection. Former All-Pro running back Maurice Jones-Drew ranked 31 top running back prospects based on their performance at the NFL Scouting Combine and film analysis.

Highlighting his top prospect, Jones-Drew stated, “If I’m being truly honest, Jeanty is the best player at the position that I have scouted over the last decade.” Ashton Jeanty from Boise State leads the list thanks to his explosive running style and toughness. Standing at 5-foot-8.5 and weighing 211 pounds, Jeanty demonstrates an ability to break tackles and burst through defensive lines.

Following Jeanty on the list is TreVeyon Henderson from Ohio State, who possesses impressive speed and vision. The 5-foot-10.125, 208-pound back showcases his effectiveness in both rushing and pass protection, recording a minimum of 100 scrimmage yards in three of Ohio State’s College Football Playoff games this past season.

Next is Cam Skattebo of Arizona State, who displayed versatility and resilience in his performance during the CFP quarterfinals. With 143 rushing yards, 99 receiving yards, and a touchdown pass against Texas, his significant presence on the field makes him an attractive option for any NFL team.

Jones-Drew also noted the strong backfield duo at Ohio State with Judkins, who led the team with 1,060 rushing yards. Judkins displayed a physical style, often running through defenders and shining in high-pressure situations.

Giddens from Kansas State has emerged as a sleeper pick on the board. At 5-foot-11.125 and 213 pounds, his quickness has analysts excited. Jones-Drew commented that if Giddens improves his pass-blocking skills, he could develop into a formidable three-down back.

UCF‘s Harvey ranks sixth for his potential as a versatile player who excels at making defenders miss. North Carolina‘s Hampton, listed seventh, has drawn attention for his ability to break through contact and maintain speed despite his size.

Georgia‘s quarterback brother, Etienne, is a name to watch as he possesses unique shiftiness and vision but may start his career as a third-down back.

As the draft approaches, NFL teams are eyeing specific players who could fill crucial roster needs. Tuten from Virginia Tech and Marks from USC also caught Jones-Drew’s eye. With time running out before the draft, teams will need to finalize their selections and strategies regarding these running back prospects.
