NFL Power Rankings Week 8: Chiefs Maintain Top Spot, Lions and Ravens Rise
As the NFL enters Week 8, the power rankings continue to reflect the evolving landscape of the league. The Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, remain the only undefeated team, standing at 6-0 despite some statistical anomalies, including Mahomes having more interceptions than touchdown passes this season.
The Detroit Lions have made a strong case for the second spot, moving to 5-1 after a significant win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7. Jared Goff‘s performance has been a key factor in the Lions’ success, making them a formidable contender in the NFC North.
The Baltimore Ravens have also risen in the rankings, now sitting at 5-2. Their recent performance, particularly Derrick Henry’s resurgence, has solidified their position among the top teams.
The Minnesota Vikings, despite their loss to the Lions, remain at 5-1 and are still considered long-term contenders. The Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers also hold strong positions, with the Bills benefiting from the addition of Amari Cooper and the Packers riding the success of Jordan Love.
The Miami Dolphins, currently at 2-4, are hoping for a turnaround with the potential return of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. However, their struggles, particularly in stopping the run and utilizing Tyreek Hill effectively without Tua, have dug them into a challenging hole.
Other notable movements include the Washington Commanders at 5-2, the Seattle Seahawks rebounding to 4-3, and the Philadelphia Eagles maintaining a 4-2 record. The Chicago Bears, after a bye week, are positioned at 4-2 and are expected to face tougher competition ahead.
The lower end of the rankings sees teams like the New York Jets, New York Giants, and Las Vegas Raiders struggling to find consistency. The Cleveland Browns, who lost Deshaun Watson for the season, and the New England Patriots, described as “soft” by their head coach Jerod Mayo, are among the teams at the bottom of the rankings.
