NFL Week 13 Flex Scheduling: Broncos-Commanders Game in Limbo

Nfl Broncos Commanders Game Week 13

NEW YORK, NY – As the NFL approaches Week 13, the league could see its first flex scheduling changes of the season. So far, no games have been flexed, and last week’s deadline for Week 12 has passed. The potential for alterations comes during Thanksgiving week, which complicates decisions due to the three Thanksgiving Day games and a Black Friday matchup.

Currently, the game between the Denver Broncos and Washington Commanders is under review for possible relocation. Fans are encouraged to keep an eye on the team’s performances in Week 11, especially with the Commanders facing a tough loss against a rival.

If the Commanders drop their matchup in Spain on Sunday, their record would fall to 3-8. This could signal a shift in scheduling priorities, especially since the team’s key players may not be fully available. Washington has struggled all season, notably losing several games by substantial margins.

Head Coach Ron Rivera‘s squad has lost four consecutive games by at least 20 points, marking one of the worst streaks in NFL history. A high-profile game against a struggling team isn’t appealing for viewers or ratings.

This flexibility is permitted, yet challenging, as Thursday night games cannot be flexed with less than 21 days’ notice. While the NFL normally does not change Thanksgiving games, the Sunday night game is a different story.

The decision to potentially shift the Broncos-Commanders game will need to be made by Tuesday, allowing the league to gauge player health and competitiveness before any schedules are rearranged. An impactful decision is imminent, with various factors at play.

Moreover, the NFL may consider a revenge matchup for primetime, specifically between the Seahawks and Vikings. If the Vikings can secure a victory in Week 12, this scenario might become more plausible.

The stakes are high as both teams look to enhance their visibility on the national stage, especially in light of Minnesota’s recent struggles after one of their stars was released in the offseason.

In the coming days, NFL officials will closely monitor team performances and decide if any changes to the Week 13 primetime schedule will be warranted.
