The 2024 NHL Draft Lottery has been scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, May 7. Hosted at NHL Network‘s studio in Secaucus, N.J., the event will be broadcast live on ESPN, Sportsnet, and TVA Sports, preceding the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers Second Round Game 2.

This draft lottery determines the draft order for the first 16 picks in the upcoming 2024 NHL Draft, with participation from all teams that did not qualify for the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs or have acquired their pick. Notably, the NHL introduced changes to the Draft Lottery format in 2022, limiting the number of positions a team can move by winning the lottery draws to 10.

Participants in the lottery include the San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Montreal Canadiens, Utah, Ottawa Senators, Seattle Kraken, Calgary Flames, New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, and St. Louis Blues.

Macklin Celebrini from Boston University tops the North America-based skaters list, while Anton Silayev from Nizhny Novgorod leads all Europe-based skaters in the NHL Central Scouting rankings. Additionally, the 2024 NHL Scouting Combine, showcasing draft-eligible prospects, is set to take place from June 2-8 in Buffalo, N.Y., at KeyBank Center and LECOM Harborcenter.
