Nhl 2024 25 Season Opener

As the puck drops on the NHL 2024-25 season this Tuesday, hockey fans can anticipate an exhilarating start with an opening night tripleheader, broadcast exclusively on ESPN and ESPN+. The action-packed day features several high-profile matchups and new player debuts, setting the stage for an exciting season.

The St. Louis Blues, featuring newly-signed forward, are preparing to make an impact in their season opener against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena. The Kraken, who recently secured a seven-year contract extension with their center, are also thrilled to introduce their latest addition to the squad. This game will air at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN+.

Following the initial contest, the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers, led by Maurice and Selke Trophy winner, will host the Boston Bruins in a game set to rekindle their playoff rivalry. After consecutive postseason eliminations by the Panthers, the Bruins are keen to assert their dominance. The clash, beginning at 7 p.m. ET, also features the Panthers’ inaugural championship banner raising at the Amerant Bank Arena.

The evening culminates with the much-anticipated debut of the Utah Hockey Club at the Delta Center. The team will showcase newcomers, including a newly-acquired defenseman, as they take on the Chicago Blackhawks, hosts of last year’s Calder Memorial Trophy winner, closing the night at 10 p.m. ET.

In a broadcasting first for ESPN, analyst Ray Ferraro will be live for two games, starting with the St. Louis Blues versus the Seattle Kraken, then heading to cover the Blackhawks at Utah Hockey Club. Additionally, ESPN’s NHL studio show, ‘The Point,’ returns this Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, hosted by Steve Levy and featuring analysts Mark Messier and P.K. Subban. The show will broadcast live from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, offering insights and interviews, including with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Utah Hockey Club Owner Ryan Smith.

The week’s exclusive NHL content continues on Thursday, October 10, with ESPN+/Hulu premiering the season’s first exclusive games. The Nashville Predators will debut former Lightning captain alongside the 2023 Conn Smythe Trophy winner against the Dallas Stars at 8 p.m. ET. Later, at 10:30 p.m., 2024’s No. 1 overall draft pick will play for the San Jose Sharks in their clash with the Blues at the SAP Center.

In total, ESPN and ESPN+ will broadcast 50 exclusive games this season, as part of NHL Power Play on ESPN+. The platform will also stream over 1,050 out-of-market games. Fans can access alternate commentary for games and enjoy replays across the network’s multiple channels. Further, exclusive editorial content by senior NHL writer Greg Wyshynski remains available to ESPN+ subscribers through the ESPN website and app.
