Nhl Trade Deadline 2025

DENVER — The NHL trade deadline has arrived, and teams are making significant moves to bolster their rosters for a playoff push. Key transactions have already taken place, and the clock is ticking toward the 3:00 p.m. ET deadline today.

Among the most notable trades, the Ottawa Senators acquired left winger Fabian Zetterlund from the San Jose Sharks. Zetterlund, 25, scored 24 goals last season and has netted 17 so far this season, adding depth to the Senators’ forward lineup.

Meanwhile, the Boston Bruins continued their fire sale, sending defenseman Brandon Carlo to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Carlo, a key player known for his blocked shots and penalty kill time, becomes an integral addition to Toronto’s defense, potentially partnering with Morgan Rielly. In exchange, the Bruins received prospect Fraser Minten, illustrating Boston’s strategy to re-tool their roster amid significant cap commitments to other players.

In another significant move, the Florida Panthers acquired veteran forward Brad Marchand, who is currently on the injured list. Marchand will join a formidable forward group including Sam Bennett and Matthew Tkachuk as the Panthers aim for another deep playoff run.

Outside of trades, the Dallas Stars announced the re-signing of 21-year-old forward Wyatt Johnston to a five-year contract. Johnston has had a dynamic season, tallying 23 goals and 59 points in just 62 games, following a strong rookie campaign.

The Detroit Red Wings made their mark by acquiring goaltender Petr Mrazek and forward Craig Smith. Mrazek, who has struggled with an .890 save percentage this season, will aim to provide veteran experience, while Smith offers scoring depth with nine goals this season.

Colorado also made a late major move, acquiring Charlie Coyle from the Bruins to strengthen their center position. Coyle, who scored 60 points last season, adds depth with postseason experience, reflecting the Avalanche’s push to stabilize their forward lineup.

The Senators struck a blockbuster deal sending forwards Dylan Cozens and Dennis Gilbert to Ottawa in exchange for Josh Norris and Jacob Bernard-Docker from Buffalo. The trade highlights Ottawa’s ambitious efforts to compete immediately, as they continue to reshape their roster.

Additionally, concerns about the state of the Winnipeg Jets grew as they navigated a competitive trade market seeking upgrades to their lineup. Despite being in first place in the Central Division, the Jets have faced pressure to make impactful acquisitions amid a flurry of activity from other teams.

“We’ve seen some strong moves from teams around us, and it’s important for us to keep pace,” said Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. The Jets’ active pursuit of players indicates their desire to maintain momentum as we approach the playoffs.

With only moments until the trading window closes, the excitement and speculation will continue to escalate as teams finalize their rosters for the season’s concluding push. Follow along for live updates as the deadline unfolds.
