Nick Chubb Set for Season Debut After Knee Injury Recovery
Open Extended Reactions BEREA, Ohio – The Cleveland Browns have ruled out their leading rusher due to a hamstring injury, but running back Nick Chubb is slated to make his season debut this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Chubb, who has been on a recovery path after suffering a severe left knee injury during a “Monday Night Football” game in September 2023, has been practicing for the past three weeks. His return is highly anticipated by Browns coaches and fans alike. Despite being listed as questionable earlier in the week, Browns’ Head Coach Kevin Stefanski expressed confidence in Chubb’s availability for the game.
“We have a plan in place for his workload,” Stefanski stated, emphasizing the importance of Chubb’s long-term availability. Offensive Coordinator Ken Dorsey echoed these sentiments during a press conference, indicating that the team is cautious but optimistic about Chubb’s impact on the field.
Chubb himself commented on his readiness, saying, “I’m ready to get out there with my team, ready to do whatever I can. I feel good,” marking his enthusiasm for returning to the gridiron after more than a year off.
In related updates, running back and return specialist who was also rehabilitating from a knee injury remains unlikely to play this weekend. Furthermore, Browns’ safety remains ruled out, with linebacker, center, and another safety all listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup.
The Cleveland Browns are set to face the Cincinnati Bengals in what has traditionally been known as the “Battle of Ohio.” This year’s storyline, however, has largely centered around Nick Chubb’s return. The Browns have officially activated Chubb from the Physically Unable to Perform list, removing any injury designation ahead of the game.
Meanwhile, safety Juan Thornhill has joined Chubb in being placed back on the active 53-man roster. The team has also elevated wide receiver and kick returner Jaelon Darden for the week. Darden has appeared in two games for the Browns this season, contributing both in punt returns and receptions.
