Nico Williams To Barcelona Shakeup

Barcelona is still hoping to secure a deal for Nico Williams this summer. Recent reports from Diario Sport suggest that there’s still a chance for the Spain forward to join the club.

According to sources, Barcelona feels confident that Williams wants to make the move to Camp Nou. The report claims, “He has told us that he wants to come this summer,” which sounds promising for fans eagerly awaiting this transfer.

It seems that Barcelona believes that if everything goes according to plan, Williams could sign as early as next week. The club just needs to figure out the financial aspects of funding this transfer, after facing setbacks like the one with RB Leipzig this week.

In order to bring in Nico, the team knows that they’ll need to let some players go. It’s expected that Julian Araujo will be heading to Bournemouth soon, followed by possible departures of other players like Clement Lenglet.

Williams himself hasn’t commented on these rumors, but he recently returned to Athletic Club after celebrating Spain’s Euro 2024 victory. Although a previous report indicated that he was inclined to stay at his current club, Barcelona isn’t ready to give up just yet.

Additionally, it was reported that Barcelona has reached an agreement in principle with Nico Williams, who has been on their radar even before shining at Euro 2024 by scoring the opening goal in the final against England.

Throughout the tournament, Williams dazzled fans with his skill, giving defenders a tough time while playing on the left-wing. His friend and fellow player from Barcelona, Lamine Yamal, also impressed from the opposite flank.

While the club successfully signed Dani Olmo, the focus remains on Nico. To finalize the deal, Barcelona has to work out the finances needed to activate his release clause, which is rumored to be around $67.7 million.

Bringing Nico Williams to Barcelona would mean competition for spots, especially as Olmo was originally expected to take the left wing role. This change could also lead Olmo to contend for positions in the midfield, particularly as key players like Pedri and Gavi are currently injured.
