Nigar Sultana Joty, the captain of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team, achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first player from her country to score 2000 runs in women’s T20 Internationals. This achievement came during Bangladesh’s match against the West Indies at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, a part of the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup 2024.

The captain began Thursday’s Group B game just 23 runs short of this prestigious mark and successfully reached the milestone, further solidifying her standing as the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in WT20Is. As of this match, Joty has scored a total of 2010* runs across 96 innings.

She is followed by fellow teammate Farzana Haque, who has accumulated 1253 runs in 79 innings. Another prominent player, Murshida Khatun, has made notable contributions with her 922 runs in 49 innings. These statistics highlight the depth of talent in Bangladesh’s women’s cricket, with Sultana Joty continuing to set the benchmark for her team.
