Noemie Fox Snags Gold In Kayak Cross At Paris 2024

Noemie Fox has just made waves at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, winning gold in the women’s kayak cross event. This thrilling competition marked a fantastic moment for the Fox family, especially after her sister Jess secured two gold medals earlier in the week.

Noemie was on fire throughout the challenging whitewater course, finishing ahead of Great Britain’s Kimberley Woods, Angele Hug from France, and Germany’s Elena Lilik. At just 27 years old, she dominated the event, winning every round leading up to the final at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.

In a surprising twist, Noemie even triumphed over her sister, Jess, in the heats to push forward in the competition. After her big win, Jess jumped into the water to hug and congratulate her sister, still soaking wet from celebrating the moment.

“I’m just full of emotion. It’s just incredible what Noemie did today,” Jess expressed with excitement. “I’m so proud of her. She nailed it, leading from the very start!”

This victory is particularly sweet for Noemie, who has been a top paddler but never had an Olympic opportunity until this year. The addition of the kayak cross event allowed her to finally compete alongside Jess, who previously held the solo Olympic selection spot.

Noemie’s journey to the Games was impressive. Just two months ago, she secured her spot by grabbing a silver medal at the Canoe Slalom World Cup in Prague. Although her sister has been the star of the family, Noemie showed she could hold her own in this new format.

Throughout the day, she battled hard in multiple races, including a nail-biting semi-final where a slow start nearly had her out of the running. But she wowed the crowd by surging back to secure her spot in the final.

The energy in the stadium was electric, with about 10,000 lively fans cheering them on. The atmosphere was a fitting celebration for an exciting day of sport and marked the end of a phenomenal Olympic program for canoe slalom.
