Arenado’s defensive skills remain elite; according to Statcast metrics, he ranks in the 95th percentile among fielders, indicating he can still make a significant impact defensively. His contract remains a consideration, with approximately $60 million due through 2027. The previous trade discussions included the Cardinals potentially absorbing part of that salary.

As teams eye the trade market, Arenado’s name is often mentioned. The Philadelphia Phillies, who need help at third base, may see him as an upgrade.
