North Texas Holds Off Wichita State for Sixth Straight Win

DENTON, Texas — North Texas secured a close 68-66 victory over Wichita State on Monday night, marking their sixth consecutive win. The Mean Green improved to 22-6 overall and 13-3 in the American Athletic Conference, while the Shockers fell to 17-12 with a 7-9 conference record.
North Texas’ guard led the team with 21 points, shooting 7 of 13 from the field, including 4 of 7 from three-point range, and made 3 of 4 free throws. also contributed significantly, adding 15 points, while scored 13 for the Mean Green.
The Shockers were led by with 19 points, with adding 16 points and scoring nine. North Texas went into halftime with a slim 31-28 lead, aided by a solid performance from Jossell, who put up 10 points in the half.
A pivotal 9-0 run early in the second half allowed North Texas to erase a four-point deficit and gain a 52-47 advantage with 9:33 remaining. Wright continued his strong performance, scoring 14 points in the second half.
With this win, North Texas sits just one game behind 16th-ranked Memphis in the conference standings. The Mean Green will conclude their regular season with a home game against Charlotte on Thursday, followed by a road matchup at Temple on Sunday.
Wichita State, now tied with Temple for seventh place in the conference, will face Rice on Thursday before hosting Tulsa on Sunday.
