Northeast Ohio Braces for Extreme Cold and Snowfall
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Northeast Ohio is preparing for a severe winter storm, with plummeting temperatures and significant snowfall expected by the end of the weekend. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for several counties, effective from 10 a.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday, with snow accumulations predicted to reach up to six inches in some areas.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland and Pittsburgh has also issued a cold weather advisory, warning of dangerously low temperatures from Sunday night through Wednesday. Snow showers are expected to intensify Sunday afternoon, with lake effect snow lingering longest in northeastern communities before tapering off by Monday afternoon.
“Plan for slippery road conditions and slower travel,” the advisory stated. “Hazardous conditions could impact Monday’s morning commute.” Snowfall totals are expected to range between two and five inches, with isolated areas potentially receiving up to six inches. In Cuyahoga County, the eastern half is likely to see the highest accumulations, while the western half may receive one to three inches.
Residents are urged to prepare now, as temperatures are expected to drop sharply. The storm could disrupt daily routines, particularly during the Monday morning commute. “This is a significant weather event,” said Mark Johnson of the News 5 Weather Team. “Stay updated and take necessary precautions.”
