Syracuse Vs Notre Dame Football 2025

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame‘s running back Jeremiyah Love is gaining traction in the Heisman Trophy conversation as his team prepares to face Syracuse on Saturday, November 22, 2025. With an impressive record of 8-2, the Fighting Irish are looking to extend their winning streak after eight consecutive victories.

Love has emerged as one of the top running backs in college football this season, racking up over 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns. His performance has made him a key player in Notre Dame’s quest for a second consecutive playoff berth and the school’s first national championship since 1988.

“I just want to go out there and win it,” said Love about the Heisman. “At the end of the day, this is a team sport.” His achievements this year include being the only player in the Football Bowl Subdivision to rank in the top three for rushing yards, touchdowns, and scrimmage yards.

While Syracuse struggles with a six-game losing streak, allowing almost five yards per carry, Love’s skills could pose a significant challenge for the Orange. “We have to be a little bit more consistent throughout the game,” Syracuse head coach Fran Brown said, acknowledging his team’s defensive issues.

The matchup has historical significance, with Notre Dame leading the series against Syracuse 8-3. The teams first played in 1914, and the Irish have been dominant in recent years, winning five straight games against their rivals since 2014.

In a statement, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman praised Love’s versatility. “He’s as special of a football player as I’ve been around. Every time he has the ball in his hands, he can make something positive happen,” Freeman added.

Love’s journey includes impressive highlights, such as two long touchdown runs over 90 yards. He aims to help Notre Dame secure a playoff spot, despite the team facing stiff competition this season.

As the Fighting Irish prepare for their finale, Love maintains focus on team goals over individual accolades. “Winning a game is way more important than that individual award,” Freeman affirmed, noting Love’s commitment to the team’s success.
