SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Notre Dame men’s basketball team will host Stanford on Wednesday, March 5, at 9 p.m. ET in Purcell Pavilion for their final regular-season home game. The Irish (12-17, 6-12) are looking to conclude the season on a high note against the Cardinal (19-10, 11-7), a team they have not faced since 1993.

Notre Dame enters this matchup needing a win to improve their standing in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) as they prepare for the upcoming tournament. Currently tied for 13th in the ACC, the Irish are looking to end the season strong and secure better seeding in the ACC Tournament, which begins March 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Markus Burton has emerged as a critical player for the Irish, averaging 21.1 points per game, which ranks seventh nationally. He has been particularly impressive in recent games, scoring 79 points in the last three contests, including a career-high of 32 points against Boston College on February 12.

Burton’s scoring prowess has placed him at the forefront of the league, where he leads ACC players in scoring. “Markus is a walking bucket,” said head coach Micah Shrewsberry. “When he gets to the rim, he’s tough to stop, and his confidence is at an all-time high right now.”

Alongside Burton, teammate Tae Davis has also stepped up, averaging 17.0 points per game in recent outings, contributing significantly to Notre Dame’s offense.

Both teams will be looking to secure a crucial win; for Stanford, a victory could bolster their NCAA Tournament hopes, while Notre Dame aims to gain momentum as they head into the postseason.

In their previous season encounters, Stanford is 3-0 against the Irish, and Wednesday’s game will mark a pivotal opportunity for Notre Dame to break this streak.

The Irish will also host Cal on Saturday, March 8, at 4 p.m. ET for their regular-season finale, capturing the attention of home fans on ‘Senior Day’. For those looking to follow the action, the game will be broadcast on ESPNU and streamed via the Notre Dame Radio Network.
