Nsw Senior Open Returns To Albury

Exciting news for golf fans in Australia! The NSW Senior Open is set to make its much-anticipated return to Albury this November.

This event, boasting a prize pool of $150,000, will take place from November 1-3 at the beautiful Thurgoona Golf & Country Club Resort. This will be the sixth edition of the tournament, which has become a standout event on the PGA Legends Tour.

Graeme Phillipson, the Chief Operating Officer of Golf NSW, expressed his enthusiasm, noting how popular the tournament has become within the Albury/Border sporting calendar. He said, “Golf NSW is delighted to continue bringing one of our best tournaments back to Thurgoona Country Club.”

Phillipson also highlighted that golf is the top pastime for Australians over 50 and that events like the NSW Senior Open promote golf as a great recreational activity for everyone.

The championship is expected to feature many well-known names from Australasian golf over the past few decades. Notables expected to play include Peter O’Malley, Chris Taylor, Grant Kenny, and Brad Burns, who won the tournament in 2019.

Andy Rogers, the PGA Legends Tour coordinator, shared his excitement about returning to Albury, noting how much the players enjoy the course and the hospitality of the community. “It’s a fantastic course and a perfect fit for a tournament that’s a really important part of our schedule,” Rogers said.

Adam Fitzgerald, General Manager of the Thurgoona Country Club Resort, mentioned that this year’s fan experience promises unparalleled access, allowing spectators to walk alongside their favorite players on the fairways. “There won’t be a better opportunity for sports fans in the Albury – Region to get up close and personal to witness the legends in action,” Fitzgerald said.
