Nuggets Thunder Playoff Game May 2025

DENVER, Colorado — The Denver Nuggets triumphed over the Oklahoma City Thunder 113-104 in overtime on Friday, taking a 2-1 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series.

The game showcased the Nuggets’ resilience as they fought back from a challenging start against the fast-paced Thunder. Despite trailing by significant margins in game statistics, including turnovers and paint points, the Nuggets clinched victory through their experience and clutch performance.

“We brought out the best in each other, and it was a tough test,” said Nuggets interim coach David Adelman.

The Thunder had a strong start, highlighted by guard Alex Caruso‘s impressive play and a record-breaking first-half score, but the Nuggets clawed their way back thanks to key contributions from players like Michael Porter Jr.

Porter, who struggled in previous games, finished the night strong with multiple three-pointers, including a critical shot in overtime that energized the home crowd at Ball Arena.

“I just had to find my rhythm,” Porter said. “It was a team effort, and we really wanted this win.”

Center Nikola Jokic faced challenges on the court, recording eight turnovers but also drawing significant defensive attention from the Thunder. Jokic’s performance demonstrated the pressure placed on him as the offensive focus for Denver.

In contrast, Oklahoma City struggled to capitalize on their previous success, seeing some of their key players, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, have inconsistent performances. Coach Mark Daigneault acknowledged the difficulty of managing the Nuggets’ defensive strategies.

“We need to find ways to convert those opportunities,” Daigneault said. “Denver played tough, and we have to respond better.”

The Nuggets will look to extend their series advantage when they face the Thunder again in Game 4 on Monday.
