Nfl Free Agency 2025 Offensive Tackle Negotiations

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. is expected to command a significant salary on the open market when NFL free agency begins on March 12, 2025. With his departure from the Pittsburgh Steelers appearing increasingly likely, Moore has emerged as one of the top free-agent prospects following recent player movements.

Recent comments from Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated indicate that both Moore and fellow tackle Cam Robinson could land contracts worth up to $15 million per season due to a lack of elite players in this year’s draft class, creating high demand for experienced offensive linemen.

Moore, a four-year starter for the Steelers, was drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft from Texas A&M. Over his career, he has started 66 games and demonstrated his growth on the field. While he excelled during the early part of the 2024 season, he struggled in the latter half, finishing the year by allowing a league-high 12 sacks.

The emergence of younger players like Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu has led to speculation that the Steelers may decide to transition away from Moore, paving the way for him to explore new opportunities. Despite his recent struggles, it’s anticipated that Moore will attract attention from teams in need of a starting tackle, with the Kansas City Chiefs reported as a potential fit.

As the NFL negotiates a new league year, teams are gearing up to address their roster needs. In preparation, franchises are expected to leverage increased salary cap space, which rose by $23.8 million this year, allowing more flexibility during the upcoming free agency period.

Various teams are exploring options to fill key positions, with focus areas including offensive line enhancements, particularly at the tackle position. With many teams experiencing critical gaps to fill, the demand for solidifying their offensive front will dominate discussions leading up to free agency.

“We expect that teams will be aggressive in their pursuit of quality linemen,” stated an NFL executive who wished to remain anonymous. “The market will create winners and losers based on how well teams can adapt their strategies to the new demands of free agency.”

Among those watching closely are franchises like the Giants, Buccaneers, and Colts, each searching for upgrades across various positions, particularly the offensive line. According to Breer, Moore is set to be a hot commodity and should comfortably land a lucrative deal that reflects his capabilities and experience.

As the clock ticks down toward the official start of free agency, anticipation builds across the league. With Moore at the forefront of the tackle market, teams are expected to engage in fierce negotiations to secure his services, setting the stage for what promises to be a transformative offseason in the NFL.
