Ohio State Football Spring Game

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State Buckeyes are gearing up for their much-anticipated annual Spring Game, set to take place Saturday, April 12, at noon at Ohio Stadium. This intrasquad scrimmage marks the conclusion of the team’s spring practice sessions and offers fans a firsthand look at the reigning national champions as they prepare for the 2025 season.

The Spring Game features a matchup between the offense, represented by the Scarlet team, and the defense, known as the Gray team. For the initial series, the Buckeyes will employ a ‘thud’ tackling style, which allows for contact but prohibits players from bringing opponents to the ground. This approach aims to keep key players healthy while evaluating the depth of the roster.

Tickets for the event are available with general admission prices starting at $8, and reserved seating can be purchased for $20 and up to $35 for club seats. Ohio State students can gain free entrance by showing their valid Buck ID at the South Stands. Additionally, the university is making the event more accessible by offering free parking in most lots and garages.

Head coach Ryan Day emphasized the importance of this scrimmage, describing it as a crucial opportunity to prepare the team for the upcoming season, especially with a challenging Week 1 matchup against Texas on the horizon. Day previously hinted at possibly altering the format of the Spring Game but reverted to the traditional structure following fan feedback.

Ohio State fans who cannot attend the game in person can watch live on the Big Ten Network. The broadcast team will include Guy Haberman, Yogi Roth, Jake Butt, and Tyvis Powell to provide commentary. The game will also be available for streaming on Fubo with regional restrictions potentially applying.

As anticipation builds, all eyes will be on standout players competing for positions, particularly at quarterback, where Lincoln Kienholz and Julian Sayin are vying for the starting role following Will Howard‘s departure. Freshman cornerback Devin Sanchez is also making waves during practice, suggesting he may have a significant impact on the defensive lineup this fall.

The day is expected to have a pleasant and crisp weather forecast, with temperatures in the 50s and a mix of sun and clouds, creating an ideal setting for fans and families to enjoy a day of football.
