Shohei Ohtani Towering Fly Ball Mlb

Los Angeles, CAShohei Ohtani hit a towering fly ball to center field during the fifth inning of the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ 4-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.

Ohtani’s hit soared high, leaving Braves center fielder Michael Harris II drifting back as the ball continued its ascent. As it neared the warning track, Harris caught the ball, clearly amazed as he tucked it against his chest and gazed skyward.

To warrant such a reaction from a big league outfielder on a routine play, Ohtani’s ball likely reached a remarkable height. The 399-foot fly ball could have cleared the fence at nine other MLB stadiums.

For context, Braves player Austin Riley hit two home runs during the game that were considerably quicker, reaching the seats in center in about five seconds. In comparison, Ohtani’s fly ball lingered in the air for approximately seven seconds.

Fortunately for the Braves, the game wasn’t decided on height alone. The victory marked an end to the Dodgers’ seven-game winning streak.
