Shohei Ohtani Dodgers Bobblehead Night

LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani homered twice and drove in six runs during his bobblehead night, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a decisive 19-2 victory over the Athletics on May 15, 2025.

This win keeps the Dodgers unbeaten in their last six series, improving their record to 17-4 at home, the best in Major League Baseball. After a loss in the series opener, the Dodgers outscored the Athletics 28-5 over the final two games.

Ohtani’s performance stood out as he hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, tying for the major league home run lead with his 15th of the season. This marked his 20th career multi-homer game. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised Ohtani, stating, “There’s not many more superlatives you can use for Shohei. He’s just playing really good baseball.”

The Dodgers scored a combined 13 runs in the first three innings, with key contributions from Hyeseong Kim and Andy Pages, who also homered in the game. Kim singled in a run during a strong third inning.

Ohtani added a sacrifice fly earlier in the game and figured prominently throughout the night. Although he ended his night striking out against A’s backup catcher Jhonny Pereda, Ohtani had generated significant excitement with his offensive output.

Max Muncy and Hyeseong Kim both had fantastic performances, contributing to the strong offensive showcase. Muncy highlighted the team’s synergy by saying, “You know they say good hitting is contagious. It kind of feels that way a little bit.”

For the Athletics, Max Schuemann hit their only home run, but overall, they struggled, managing just three hits against a well-executed Dodgers pitching performance. The Dodgers’ pitching staff held the Athletics to only two runs, helping the team maintain momentum through the game.

After witnessing Ohtani’s spectacular evening, Roberts expressed a wish for more situations where Ohtani can shine, suggesting, “We need some more [bobblehead nights].” Los Angeles begins their next series against the Angels, looking to continue their dominant performance.
