Oilers Vs Golden Knights Playoff Game

LAS VEGAS, NV — The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 1-0 in overtime on Wednesday night, clinching the second-round playoff series 4-1 at T-Mobile Arena. Kasperi Kapanen scored the game-winning goal at 7:19 of overtime, sending the Oilers to the Western Conference final for the second consecutive year.

Goalie Stuart Skinner made 24 saves, securing his second shutout in a row after blanking the Golden Knights in Game 4. Skinner’s performance was instrumental in helping Edmonton advance, following a Stanley Cup Final appearance last season, where they lost to the Florida Panthers in seven games.

The Oilers will face either the Dallas Stars or Winnipeg Jets next. The Stars lead their series 3-1, with Game 5 set for Thursday night.

Mark Stone, the Golden Knights’ captain, missed the game due to an upper-body injury. His absence was felt as the Golden Knights struggled to find offensive momentum, managing only eight shots in the first 34 minutes of the game. Vegas was outshot 31-24 overall, and they failed to gain traction despite having several chances late in the game.

The match was low-scoring and defensive, remaining scoreless through regulation. The Golden Knights had just two shots in overtime, while Edmonton created multiple opportunities, eventually leading to Kapanen’s decisive goal.

This marks the first time in franchise history that the Golden Knights’ season ended in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They had previously progressed to the playoffs in their first five seasons.
