In Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Friday, McDavid recorded three assists while Draisaitl added a goal and an assist, marking their 29th such game in Stanley Cup playoff history.

Mark Messier spoke highly of the duo, stating, “They’re the best players of their generation.” He leads the all-time postseason scoring list with 295 points in 236 games, while Gretzky holds the top spot with 382 points amassed in 208 games.

The record-breaking achievement is a testament to the skill and chemistry between McDavid and Draisaitl. The pair are now second behind Gretzky and Glenn Anderson, who had 30 multipoint games, and they trail Gretzky and Jari Kurri‘s record of 44 multipoint games together.

Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner, who idolized the team growing up, acknowledged their contribution, saying, “Everyone knows how much they mean to the Oilers.” Both players played vital roles in leading Edmonton to last season’s Stanley Cup Final.

This postseason, McDavid leads all players with 31 playoff points, while Draisaitl sits right behind him with 29. Draisaitl has reached at least ten goals in three consecutive playoffs, joining legends Gretzky and Mike Bossy in this elite group.

The offensive prowess of McDavid and Draisaitl has shone during the playoffs, as they have factored into 73 goals together in their playoff careers. Their ability to read each other on the ice has led to a rare combination of scoring potential and teamwork.

Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch has skillfully utilized the pair on the same line during critical moments, leading to impressive scoring chances. The coach emphasized their chemistry, saying, “When they play together, they’re obviously very creative players.
