Oklahoma Baseball Vs Texas 2025

NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma baseball team will host No. 3-ranked Texas for a three-game series starting Thursday, May 15, at L. Dale Mitchell Park. This marks the end of the regular season for both teams and a historic moment as they face each other as SEC rivals, having spent the past 26 seasons in the Big 12.

The Sooners (32-17, 13-14 SEC) enter the series seeking to solidify their postseason position. Oklahoma holds eight wins against ranked opponents this season and has faced numerous top-15 teams in SEC play. The Sooners are coming off a mixed series and are looking to bounce back after dropping out of the D1 Baseball top 25 following a recent loss to Kentucky.

Oklahoma will showcase its pitching staff, led by RHP Kyson Witherspoon, who holds a 9-3 record and a 2.45 ERA. The pitching matchups for the series include Texas’s Kade Bing and Ruger Riojas, who have shown solid performances this season.

Fans attending will see promotional events throughout the series, including a Happy Hour on Thursday with discounted beers and a ‘Crimson Out’ on Friday, where attendees are encouraged to wear crimson. Saturday will feature a Senior Day ceremony honoring five outgoing players before the game.

This weekend’s series is crucial for Oklahoma as it prepares for the upcoming SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama, starting on May 20. With the Sooners currently sitting at 26 in the NCAA RPI, victories could enhance their positioning heading into postseason play.

“Each game matters as we look at our postseason chances,” said Coach Skip Johnson. “We know the history with Texas, and this rivalry is always intense.”
