GREENVILLE, S.C. — No. 10 Oklahoma dominated Georgia 70-52 in the second round of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Tournament on Thursday, extending its winning streak to eight games.

Junior center Raegan Beers led the Sooners with 22 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. With this victory, Oklahoma sets up a rematch against Kentucky, which handed the Sooners their last defeat on February 2.

Liz Scott contributed with 11 points and eight rebounds for Oklahoma (24-6, 12-5 SEC), while Trinity Turner was the top scorer for Georgia (13-19, 4-12 SEC) with 12 points.

Oklahoma successfully exploited Beers’ height advantage, consistently driving the ball into the post. Beers made 9 of 14 attempts from the floor, scoring eight points in the third quarter, highlighted by a buzzer-beating shot that ensured a 15-point lead entering the final quarter.

Despite securing several open shots, Georgia struggled, finishing with a shooting percentage of only 28%, and going 4 for 20 from three-point range.

“We didn’t hit our shots tonight,” said Georgia coach [“Your Coach’s Name Here”]. “We had looks, just didn’t convert.”

Oklahoma’s performance reflected strong teamwork, amassing 27 assists on 29 made baskets. A key moment occurred when Georgia narrowed the lead to two points late in the second quarter, but Beers responded with a basket that ignited a 7-0 run, ensuring Oklahoma would never surrender the lead again.

The Sooners also showcased their defensive prowess with 10 blocks during the game, significantly limiting Georgia’s scoring opportunities, particularly in the paint where they allowed only 18 points.

Oklahoma will face Kentucky in the quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. To advance, Oklahoma will need to effectively counter Kentucky’s star point guard, Georgia Amoore.

“We know what we need to do to match up against Kentucky,” Beers said after the game. “We’re ready for the challenge.”
