Oklahoma Shocks Arkansas with Walk-Off Homer in SEC Semifinals

ATHENS, Ga. — The Oklahoma Sooners staged a dramatic comeback to defeat the Arkansas Razorbacks 8-6 in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament on Friday, May 9, 2025.
After trailing 6-1, Oklahoma rallied with six home runs, including a critical three-run walk-off blast from Gabbie Garcia in the seventh inning, securing their spot in the championship game.
The game saw Arkansas scoring first, taking a 2-0 lead in the opening inning with two singles, two walks, and a sacrifice fly. The Razorbacks continued their offensive surge, bringing in four more runs, including a two-run home run by Kailey Wyckoff, establishing what seemed to be a comfortable lead.
However, the Sooners responded with a solo home run from Ella Parker in the second inning, sparking their comeback. They continued to chip away at the deficit with back-to-back homers from Sydney Barker and Isabela Emerling in the fourth inning. By the time the sixth inning rolled around, Ailana Agbayani‘s solo home run narrowed the gap to 6-5.
In the seventh, after reaching first base, Parker advanced to third on a double by Nelly McEnroe-Marinas. With two outs and the game on the line, Garcia sent a pitch from Robyn Herron soaring over the center-field wall.
“Resilience is what we showed today,” said Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso, praising her team’s ability to come back from a five-run deficit. This victory marked the largest comeback in SEC Tournament history, as the Sooners also set a new record with six homers in one game.
With this win, Oklahoma improved to 45-7 for the season, setting up a championship showdown against Texas A&M on Saturday.
