Oklahoma Softball Team Celebrating Victory

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Oklahoma regained the top spot in the latest NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll after sweeping Texas, marking a significant achievement during the 2025 college softball season.

After a challenging start to the SEC season, Oklahoma, now with a record of 42-5, showcased their strength by defeating then-No. 2 Texas three times at home. This series victory comes as the Sooners are headed into the final week of the regular season, offering a 2.5-game lead over Texas A&M.

Junior shortstop Ailana Agbayani played a crucial role during the series, hitting a grand slam in Game 1 and posting a .750 batting average. This strong performance helped Oklahoma not only take back the No. 1 ranking but also demonstrated their resilience after losing 10 players from last year’s championship squad.

Other notable teams in the rankings include Texas A&M, which is now No. 2 after a series defeat against Arkansas, and Oregon at No. 3, which climbed two spots after sweeping Indiana. Texas dropped to No. 4 following their disappointing series with Oklahoma.

The Sooners have won six consecutive games, proving they are a force to be reckoned with as they prepare for the upcoming postseason. A key player to watch, Ella Parker, has also had a stellar season, currently batting .390 with 37 RBIs, joining her team as they aim to maintain momentum heading into tournament play.

Next, Oklahoma will face Florida, a team that has performed well despite recent losses, as they prepare for what promises to be an intense matchup this Thursday at 6 p.m. on SEC Network. Fans are eager to see if Oklahoma can sustain their dominance and potentially secure another national title.
