Oklahoma Softball Series Rescheduled Due to Weather Risks

NORMAN, Okla. — The Oklahoma softball team’s series against Mississippi State has been rescheduled due to forecasted inclement weather. The first game will take place on Friday, April 18, at 4 p.m. CT at Devon Park, while the doubleheader on Sunday, April 20, will commence at 2 p.m. CT at Love's Field.
The doubleheader will follow immediately after the conclusion of the first game, with game three slated for 40 minutes after game two. Both teams hope to perform well at Love’s Field, a venue known for its significant home-field advantage.
All tickets purchased for Saturday’s game will be valid for the second game on Sunday. Digital ticket holders will see automatic updates to their accounts regarding time changes, while fans with paper tickets are advised to retain their original tickets. Entry for the second game on Sunday will only begin once the stadium has been cleared after the 2 p.m. game.
“We are committed to keeping our fans informed and safe as we navigate changes due to the weather,” said a representative from the University of Oklahoma Athletics Ticket Office.
Any fans unable to attend the rescheduled games due to the change are encouraged to contact their original point of purchase for possible refunds. Those who bought tickets through SeatGeek or directly from the USA Softball box office may call customer support for assistance.
Oklahoma, currently ranked fourth with a 36-5 overall record and 10-5 in SEC play, is looking to bounce back after two consecutive losses to Alabama. Team leaders are focused on regrouping to secure a strong performance against Mississippi State.
“It’s crucial we focus on our preparations and stay mentally sharp as we face Mississippi State,” said OU head coach Patty Gasso. “We have already practiced hard this week, and the players are excited to get back on the field.”
Mississippi State’s head coach, Samantha Ricketts, a former Sooner herself, brings a wealth of experience and will be a formidable opponent. Gasso added, “Sam knows what it means to play for this program. It’s exciting for our fans to see her back in action.”
Fans are reminded of the clear bag policy implemented at Devon Park, and are encouraged to review guidelines regarding prohibited items. For more information on the game and ticket updates, please refer to the University of Oklahoma’s official athletics website.
