Ole Miss Baseball And Softball Teams April 2025

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss Athletics enters a critical weekend, as both the baseball and softball teams prepare to host highly ranked opponents. Baseball’s No. 6 Ole Miss will take on the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers, while the Lady Rebels will host the No. 8 Florida Gators.

The Rebels’ baseball team is facing one of its toughest challenges of the season. Tennessee, boasting a record of 28-4, comes off a midweek victory over Alabama State, where they won decisively 10-2. The Volunteers managed eight hits and drew an impressive 14 walks, resetting their momentum after dropping a series to unranked Texas A&M last weekend.

Despite their recent struggles, the Volunteers are the reigning national champions, and their star pitcher Liam Doyle has excelled, delivering a no-hitter earlier this season. Doyle transferred to Tennessee after spending his first season with the Rebels.

Meanwhile, Ole Miss baseball recently faced Kentucky in a three-game matchup, coming away with a series win after losing the first game in extra innings. The Rebels bounced back, winning the final two games, including a tightly contested finale.

On Tuesday, Ole Miss baseball delivered a dominant performance against Memphis, winning 10-0, further boosting their confidence as they face Tennessee.

In softball, the Lady Rebels sit at 30-9 on the season, showcasing their strong potential against top teams. They will look to capitalize on home field advantage in their series against Florida. The Gators are coming off a series loss to Arkansas, having dropped two of three games, which puts Ole Miss in a favorable position to compete.

The Lady Rebels lost a close series to sixth-ranked South Carolina last weekend but regained their rhythm with a 12-0 victory over UT Martin earlier this week. Lexie Brady shone in that game, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs, showcasing the offensive prowess that Ole Miss will need against the Gators.

With both teams facing top-ranked competition, this weekend’s matchups at Swayze Field promise to bring intense excitement for Ole Miss fans. The baseball games against Tennessee start on Thursday, April 10, with game times set at 8 p.m., 7 p.m., and 3 p.m. for Friday and Saturday, respectively, while the softball series against Florida kicks off simultaneously.
