Tre Harris Ole Miss Wide Receiver Injury Update

Ole Miss wide receiver Tre Harris, who leads the nation with 987 receiving yards this season, has been ruled out for the Rebels’ Week 9 matchup against Oklahoma. Despite being a game-time decision, reports indicate that Harris will not be able to play in the crucial game scheduled for noon ET at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford.

Harris’s absence is a significant blow to the Ole Miss offense, particularly for quarterback Jaxson Dart, who has relied heavily on Harris as his primary target. Dart has had a strong senior season, completing 70.2% of his passes for 2,384 yards with 14 touchdowns and just three interceptions. However, without Harris, the Rebels’ dynamic passing offense will be significantly impacted. Sophomore Cayden Lee, who is second on the roster with 27 catches for 429 yards, will likely see more action in Harris’s absence.

The game against Oklahoma is critical for Ole Miss’s College Football Playoff hopes, as the Rebels are currently 5-2 and cannot afford a third loss if they aim to secure an at-large bid into the 12-team postseason. The Sooners, despite their own struggles on offense, have maintained a steady defense under head coach Brent Venables, which could pose challenges for the Rebels.

Harris had been listed on the mid-week SEC Availability report following a seven-catch, 102-yard performance in a Week 7 loss to LSU. His injury status had been uncertain until the final decision was made that he would not play against the Sooners.
