CONKLIN, NY (WBNG) — The Oneonta Yellowjackets narrowly defeated the Lansing Bobcats, 2-1, on June 2, 2025, securing their second consecutive Class B Championship.

With this victory, Oneonta has now won three of the last four Class B titles. The only year they did not win was in 2023 when Lansing claimed the crown after moving up from Class C, where they were the sectional champions in 2022.

In a critical moment during the seventh inning, with a runner on second base, Brady Carr hit an RBI single that brought in the game-winning run, sealing the championship for Oneonta.

Oneonta will advance to the state tournament, where they are set to face the winner of the matchup between Medina (Section VI) and Wellsville (Section V) on June 7.

Thomas Turgeon, a local sports commentator, celebrated their victory, saying, “Backflipping their way into the state tournament!” highlighting their strong performance throughout the season.
