India New Zealand Test Wankhede Stadium

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced that online ticket sales for the upcoming Test match between India and New Zealand will begin on Friday. The match is scheduled to take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from November 1 to November 5. This announcement was made following a meeting of the MCA’s apex council.

In a move to inspire budding cricket enthusiasts, the MCA, led by its president Ajinkya Naik, has decided to distribute free passes to children from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation schools and the semifinalists of the Harris and Giles Shield tournaments. These initiatives aim to nurture a love for the game among young spectators.

This Test match is set to be a landmark event as it marks the first time in three years that a Test match will be held at the historic Wankhede Stadium. The last Test fixture at this venue was in December 2021, also featuring India and New Zealand. The decision to host the match at such a storied venue underscores its significance in reviving traditional cricket stadia and offering fans an opportunity to experience live cricket in a locale steeped in history.

To accommodate a broad range of spectators, the MCA has structured ticket prices to be accessible yet reflective of the event’s prestige. Season passes for the North Stand, Sachin Tendulkar Stand, and Vijay Merchant Stand have been priced at Rs 1500. Meanwhile, tickets for the east lower section are set at Rs 325, and those for the east upper section are priced at Rs 625. These pricing tiers are part of an effort to balance affordability and the financial requirements of staging such a marquee event.

The initiative to provide free entry to young cricket fans and those who have excelled in local tournaments is a commendable step towards encouraging grassroots participation in cricket. It reflects the MCA’s commitment to fostering the next generation of cricket talent by exposing them to high-profile international matches.
