Orlando Magic Aim to Extend Winning Streak Against Brooklyn Nets on Sunday
The Orlando Magic and the Brooklyn Nets are set to face off for the second time in three days on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Barclays Center. The Magic are riding a hot streak, having won 11 of their last 12 games, including a dominant 123-100 victory over the Nets just two days ago on Friday.
In their previous matchup, Franz Wagner led the Magic with 29 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 19 points, and Wendell Carter Jr. contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. The Magic’s strong performance was highlighted by their 53% shooting from the field and 51.4% from three-point range.
The Brooklyn Nets, despite their recent form where they have won four of their last six games, are looking to bounce back from the blowout loss. Shake Milton led the Nets with 22 points off the bench, while Cameron Johnson and Keon Johnson added 14 and 15 points, respectively. However, the Nets struggled defensively and were outrebounded 40-35 by the Magic.
The Nets welcome back Dennis Schröder, who missed the previous game due to personal reasons. His return is expected to boost the team’s performance, although they will still be without several key players, including Bojan Bogdanovic, Noah Clowney, Dorian Finney-Smith, Jaylen Martin, Day'Ron Sharpe, and Cam Thomas.
The Magic, meanwhile, continue to play without their star player Paolo Banchero, who has been out with a torn right oblique for 17 consecutive games. Despite this, Franz Wagner has stepped up, averaging 23.6 points and 5.8 assists per game. The Magic also miss Gary Harris due to a hamstring injury.
The game is expected to be high-scoring, with sportsbooks setting the total points line at 208.5. The Magic are favorites to win, with odds of -8.5 against the spread and a moneyline of -330. The Nets are at +8.5 against the spread and +265 on the moneyline).
