Osasuna Faces Critical Match Against Girona in La Liga

PAMPLONA, Spain — Osasuna and Girona will meet at Estadio El Sadar on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in a critical La Liga match as both teams strive to avoid relegation. The kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. UK time.
Currently sitting in 13th place, Osasuna is just seven points clear of the relegation zone, where 18th-placed Leganes resides. Meanwhile, Girona holds the 15th spot, six points above the relegation zone. Both teams have struggled recently, and a loss could heighten their relegation concerns.
Osasuna has not tasted victory in their last nine outings, with their last win dating back to early February. Their current record stands at seven wins, 14 draws, and nine losses, earning them 35 points this season. After a 1-1 stalemate against Leganes, Osasuna comes into this match as one of the stalemate specialists in La Liga, with nearly half of their matches ending in draws this season.
“It’s crucial for us to turn this trend around, especially at home,” an Osasuna player stated. “We need to fight for every point to ensure our safety.”
Osasuna boasts the seventh-best home record in La Liga, having secured 24 points from 15 matches at Estadio El Sadar. Conversely, Girona has struggled on the road, claiming only 13 points from 15 away fixtures this season. Notably, Osasuna has lost their last three league matches against Girona, including a 4-0 defeat earlier this season.
On the other side, Girona’s trajectory has been disappointing compared to their impressive third-place finish last season. Currently, they sit with a record of nine wins, seven draws, and 17 defeats, resulting in just 34 points. They, too, have not won since early February and come off consecutive losses against Barcelona and Alaves.
“We need to find a solution quickly,” a Girona spokesperson said. “The pressure is mounting, and we can’t afford to slip further down the table.”
Osasuna may face challenges regarding squad fitness, as there are doubts about some players’ availability. However, coach Jagoba Arrasate is expected to field a competitive lineup led by star forward Ante Budimir, who has netted 15 goals this season.
On the other hand, Girona’s head coach Michel will have to make adjustments due to injuries affecting several key players. Despite these setbacks, Girona’s squad remains resilient, and they are determined to make a statement against Osasuna.
As both teams gear up for this crucial encounter, fans and analysts alike are eager to see which side can claim a much-needed victory to bolster their chances of staying in La Liga.
