Pacers Aim for NBA Finals with Lead Over Knicks in Eastern Conference Finals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indiana Pacers are on the verge of their first NBA Finals appearance since the 1999-2000 season, leading the New York Knicks 2-0 in the Eastern Conference finals. The crucial Game 3 is set to take place Sunday evening at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
After a thrilling overtime victory in Game 1, the Pacers secured a commanding 114-109 win in Game 2 at Madison Square Garden. Forward Tyrese Haliburton shined in the last game, scoring a playoff-career-high 39 points to lead his team.
The Knicks, facing a historical challenge, have never won a best-of-seven series after falling behind 0-2. According to ESPN Research, they hold a grim 0-14 record in such situations. Meanwhile, the Pacers are 9-0 when leading a series 2-0.
As they head into Game 3, Indiana is primed to extend its series lead, bolstered by the team’s collective performance and strong defense. Each of the 10 Pacers who participated in the last game scored at least once, showcasing their depth. Myles Turner provided notable defensive efforts against Knicks center Mitchell Robinson, while Aaron Nesmith’s ankle sprain raises concerns for Indiana’s rotation.
Despite their struggles, the Knicks made a lineup change before Game 3, inserting Mitchell Robinson as a starter in hopes of turning the tide. Jalen Brunson leads New York’s scoring but is in foul trouble, which complicates their strategy moving forward.
With pressure mounting, New York fights to turn around the series, while the Pacers aim to solidify their path to the finals tonight at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
