INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers took a commanding 2-0 lead in their playoff series against the New York Knicks on Friday night, showcasing their depth as head coach Rick Carlisle utilized 11 players in a tightly contested game.

After acknowledging that his team struggled on the boards in Game 1, Carlisle made a strategic decision to bring in reserve big man Tony Bradley. Despite only having played 17 minutes during the postseason prior to this game, Bradley made an immediate impact. In just eight minutes of play, he secured several rebounds and contributed to the team’s effort against Knicks center Mitchell Robinson.

“Tony Bradley hasn’t played in the series, but he’s one of our better rebounders,” Carlisle said. “We elected to go with him to spell Myles [Turner] a little bit. That’s how we’ve got to play.”

Both Turner and backup center Thomas Bryant encountered early foul trouble, leading Carlisle to rely on the 6-foot-10 Bradley, a former first-round pick from North Carolina. In contrast, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has kept his rotation tight, primarily relying on his starters with limited contributions from his bench.

Bradley echoed the sentiments of his coach, emphasizing his readiness when called upon. “I just was ready when my name was called,” he said. “I work hard every day just staying in shape. I’m just focused on keeping Robinson off the glass.”

Despite the Knicks leading the rebounding battle 84-70, the Pacers managed to secure the win and remain undefeated in the series. Robinson logged a playoff-high 29 minutes for New York and recorded six points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots, with only one of his rebounds coming while Bradley was on the court.

Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton praised Bradley’s contributions, highlighting the importance of every player on the team. “Shoutout to Tony Bradley. He came in for us and really got thrown in with our group that has been together for so long,” Haliburton said. “It’s just so special to see what our group is doing.”
