Indiana Pacers Vs Minnesota Timberwolves Basketball Game

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Indiana Pacers secured their fifth consecutive victory on March 24, 2025, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-103 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton led the team with 24 points and 11 assists, while Obi Toppin contributed 20 points, including six three-pointers.

With this win, the Pacers improved to 42-29, solidifying their position in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Indiana now holds a significant advantage over Milwaukee as they vie for the No. 4 seed in the playoffs. Haliburton has extended his career-high streak to 11 consecutive games with double-doubles.

The Timberwolves, falling to 41-32, struggled as they suffered their third loss in four games. Minnesota was led by Naz Reid, who scored 20 points, alongside Anthony Edwards with 17 points. Rudy Gobert recorded a double-double, finishing the game with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Indiana never trailed in the game, using a strong third-quarter performance to build a substantial lead. They made nine three-pointers in that period alone, allowing them to establish a commanding 95-73 advantage. The Timberwolves were not able to close the gap to single digits for the remainder of the match.

“We came out strong and really found our rhythm,” Haliburton said after the game. “Playing at home always helps, and we just want to keep this momentum going.”

The game started with Indiana getting an early four-point lead, which Minnesota quickly matched, but it wasn’t long before the Pacers created separation, ending the first quarter up 25-23. Pacers defense held Minnesota to just 37.5% shooting in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Indiana extended their lead to a high of 13 points, with Haliburton and Toppin key to keeping the momentum in favor of the home team. Despite a late surge by Minnesota, the Pacers took a 54-48 lead into halftime.

After halftime, Haliburton was instrumental in regaining and extending the lead, making his presence felt early in the third quarter. “We just needed to stay focused. That timeout was crucial to regroup us,” said Pacers coach Rick Carlisle.

The Pacers displayed an effective shooting performance particularly from three-point range, hitting 9 of 14 attempts in the third period. This helped them maintain a comfortable cushion as the fourth quarter unfolded.

The Timberwolves attempted to rally in the final period, starting with a quick 9-0 run that brought the score to 115-98. However, Indiana’s defense held firm, and they were able to empty their bench in the closing moments of the game.

As the Pacers aim for a favorable playoff position, their next challenge comes against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, March 26, concluding a five-game homestand.
