Green Bay Packers Xavier Mckinney Zach Tom 2024

Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney and right tackle Zach Tom were recognized for their standout performances during the 2024 NFL season, earning All-Pro honors from the Associated Press and Pro Football Focus, respectively. McKinney, a free-agent acquisition, was named a first-team All-Pro by the AP, while Tom received first-team All-Pro recognition from PFF.

McKinney, who joined the Packers in the offseason, had a career-defining year, intercepting eight passes over 17 games, the second-highest total in the league. He also recovered a fumble, recorded a sack, and tied his career high with 11 passes defensed. According to Pro Football Focus, McKinney allowed a passer rating of just 56.4 in coverage, the third-best mark among safeties, and did not surrender a single touchdown pass. His contributions were pivotal in the Packers’ defensive resurgence under new coordinator Jeff Hafley, as the team finished in the top 10 for scoring and yards allowed while forcing 31 takeaways.

McKinney was also named a Pro Bowl starter for the NFC, alongside teammates Josh Jacobs and Rashan Gary. However, he was the only Packers player to earn first-team All-Pro honors from the AP. Other Packers receiving votes included left guard Elgton Jenkins, cornerback/kick returner Keisean Nixon, and linebacker Edgerrin Cooper.

On the offensive side, Zach Tom solidified his reputation as one of the league’s top right tackles. PFF awarded him first-team All-Pro honors after he posted an elite run-blocking grade (90.0) and allowed just 24 total pressures on 562 pass-blocking snaps. Tom ranked third among tackles in run-blocking, 11th in pass-blocking, and fourth overall. Despite his stellar performance, Tom was overlooked for the Pro Bowl, not even earning alternate status.

Tom’s contributions were instrumental in the success of the Packers’ running game, which featured Josh Jacobs’ 1,329 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. A fourth-round pick in 2022, Tom has started at right tackle for the past two seasons and is entering the final year of his rookie contract, setting the stage for a potential extension this offseason.

While McKinney earned second-team All-Pro honors from PFF, finishing behind Kerby Joseph of the Detroit Lions and Kyle Hamilton of the Baltimore Ravens, his impact on the Packers’ defense was undeniable. Together, McKinney and Tom represent the core of a young, talented Packers roster poised for future success.
