Pakistan Advances To Semi Finals With Thrilling Win Over Bangladesh

Pakistan secured a spot in the semi-finals of the U19 CWC 2024 with a thrilling victory over Bangladesh in Benoni. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field. Pakistan began their batting innings steadily, gradually accelerating the run rate. However, they were all out for 155 runs, with Shahzaib Khan and Shamyl Hussain as the leading scorers. Ubaid Shah showcased an excellent bowling performance, taking 5/44.

In response, Bangladesh needed to chase down the target in 38.1 overs to secure a net run rate advantage over Pakistan. Despite a valiant effort, they fell short by five runs in the end. Bangladesh bowlers Borson and Jibon were key contributors in limiting Pakistan’s batting performance, both finishing with figures of 4/24. Ubaid Shah struck early to take three crucial wickets, including a brilliant catch by Haroon Arshad. Ariful Islam and Md Shihab James tried to stabilize the innings, but a fightback from Ubaid Shah and Ali Raza reduced Bangladesh to 83/6.

Mahfuzur Rahman and Shihab formed a partnership to rebuild the chase, with 73 runs still required. However, the Pakistani bowlers struck back, with Ubaid Shah finally dismissing Shihab. Ali Raza chipped in with another wicket, putting Pakistan back in control. Bangladesh fought back through Borson and Mridha, bringing the match to an intense finale with only six runs needed to win in the 37th over. However, Mohammad Zeeshan’s delivery forced Mridha to lose his wicket, securing a historic win for Pakistan.
