Panthers Add Linebacker Christian Rozeboom to Strengthen Defense

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have signed linebacker Christian Rozeboom to a one-year deal, signaling their intent to bolster their defense as the new NFL league year begins.
The 28-year-old Rozeboom, who was previously with the Los Angeles Rams, recorded a career-high 135 tackles and five tackles for loss during the 2024 season. He started 11 games for the Rams, showcasing his ability to make an impact on the field.
Originally entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent from South Dakota State, Rozeboom briefly spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs before making his mark with the Rams. He has a total of 16 career starts, including time spent on a Super Bowl-winning team.
This signing was made official on March 12, 2025, just as the NFL’s free agency period kicked off. The Panthers are aiming to revamp their roster and address defensive needs, having also secured agreements with defensive linemen Bobby Brown III and Tershawn Wharton, as well as outside linebacker Patrick Jones II and safety Tre'von Moehrig.
Rozeboom’s addition is part of a strategic offseason to enhance team performance, as noted by Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer. “We believe Christian brings a lot of valuable experience and intensity to our defense,” Fitterer said. “He has proven he can perform at a high level in big moments, and that’s the kind of player our team needs.”
Rozeboom’s move also connects him with Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, who he worked alongside during the Rams’ 2021 Super Bowl run. His familiarity with Evero’s defensive scheme could lead to a seamless integration.
Fans are optimistic about Rozeboom’s potential impact as the Panthers prepare for the upcoming season. Carolina’s organization continues to evolve, focusing on building a competitive roster to challenge in the NFC South.
Other notable signings around the league include Kevin Zeitler joining the Tennessee Titans and Darius Slay signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, showing an active start to the new free agency period.
