Panthers Select Speedy Receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. in 2025 NFL Draft

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers boosted their roster with speed and versatility by selecting wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. from the University of Colorado with the 208th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on April 26.
The 5-foot-8, 174-pound Horn showcased impressive athleticism at the combine, running a 4.46-second 40-yard dash. He recorded a 38-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-8 broad jump. During his last season at Colorado, Horn caught 58 passes for 567 yards and six touchdowns.
Horn began his collegiate career at the University of South Florida, where he had standout seasons, including one where he earned first-team All-AAC honors. He totaled 67 receptions for 959 yards and four touchdowns in two seasons before transferring to Colorado in 2023.
The Panthers’ selection of Horn adds depth to their already talented receiving corps, which includes first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan. Analysts suggest Horn’s speed and ability to stretch the field could complement the team’s existing receivers, who focus more on intermediate plays.
A potential role on special teams could be in Horn’s immediate future. He averaged 10.3 yards per punt return last year and has experience in key special teams positions.
Horn’s competitive nature and speed may make him a valuable addition, particularly as teams look for ways to enhance their offensive strategy. “He catches in traffic without hesitation and has the wiggle and gas to create big plays once the ball is in his hands,” noted NFL analysts.
This selection wraps up a strong draft for the Panthers as they aim to improve their overall performance in the upcoming season.
