Panthers Sign Defensive Tackle Bobby Brown III to Strengthen Defense

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have bolstered their defensive line by signing free agent Bobby Brown III to a three-year contract, as reported on March 10, 2025. The agreement, which can reach up to $27 million, adds a significant run-stuffing presence to the team’s defensive scheme.

Brown, 24, was selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M and has played his entire career with the Los Angeles Rams. During the 2024 season, he started 16 games and recorded 44 total tackles, including four tackles for loss. His experience will be vital as the Panthers aim to improve their rush defense.

“Bobby’s experience and physicality fit exactly what we’re looking for to enhance our front line,” said Panthers head coach Frank Reich. “We believe he can contribute significantly to our defensive strategies moving forward.”

At 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 332 pounds, Brown brings considerable size to the Panthers’ defense. He played 42 percent of the defensive snaps for the Rams last season, alongside contributing on special teams. His ability to clog running lanes is a crucial asset that the Panthers are looking to capitalize on.

The Panthers’ defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero previously worked with Brown while serving as the Rams’ secondary coach, adding a layer of familiarity to the team’s plans. Evero expressed enthusiasm about the signing: “Having worked with Bobby before, I know how dynamic he can be at the nose tackle position. His integration into our system should happen smoothly.”

The Panthers’ pursuit of defensive improvements doesn’t stop with Brown. The team also announced agreements with safety Tre'von Moehrig and outside linebacker Patrick Jones II on the same day. These efforts align with a clear organizational focus on fortifying a defense that had struggled in the previous season.
