Kelsey Grammer Frasier Revival Cast 2025

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Paramount+ has canceled the revival of the beloved sitcom “Frasier” after two seasons, Variety reported on January 17, 2025. The streaming platform will not renew the Kelsey Grammer-led series, leaving CBS Studios to shop it to other outlets.

The revival, which premiered in October 2023, brought back Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane, a character he originated on NBC‘s “Cheers” and later in the spinoff “Frasier,” which ran from 1993 to 2004. Despite its storied legacy, the revival struggled to gain traction on Paramount+, a platform better known for its dramas, including the Taylor Sheridan and “Star Trek” franchises.

“Frasier” was one of only two original comedy series on Paramount+, alongside the single-camera international co-production “Colin From Accounts.” Multi-camera sitcoms have proven challenging for streaming platforms, with few achieving long-term success.

The series followed Frasier Crane as he returned to Boston to navigate new relationships and pursue old dreams. The cast included Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son Freddy, Nicholas Lyndhurst as his college friend Alan, Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Jess Salgueiro as neighbor Eve, and Anders Keith as nephew David. Familiar faces from the original series, such as Bebe Neuwirth as Lilith and Peri Gilpin as Roz, also made guest appearances.

David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier’s brother Niles in the original series, opted not to reprise his role, disappointing longtime fans. Grammer, who executive produced the revival alongside Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli, had expressed hopes for the series to continue for “another 100 episodes at least.”

While CBS Studios remains committed to the show, it is unlikely to find a home on CBS, which is already developing multiple comedies, including “The Neighborhood” and “Poppa's House.” Potential landing spots include Prime Video and Hulu, both of which carry the original “Frasier” library. Seasons 1 and 2 of the revival, along with the original series, will remain available on Paramount+.

The revival earned three Primetime Emmy nominations but failed to win any awards. Its cancellation marks the end of a chapter for one of television’s most iconic characters, leaving fans to wonder if Frasier Crane will find a new home.
