Paris Saint-Germain Crushes Stade Briochin 7-0 in Coupe de France Quarterfinals

RENNES, France — Paris Saint-Germain showcased its formidable prowess in the Coupe de France quarterfinals by defeating fourth-tier Stade Briochin 7-0 on Wednesday night. Gonçalo Ramos distinguished himself by scoring a hat trick, as the reigning champions asserted their dominance at Roazhon Park.
Quick to impose themselves, PSG opened the scoring just 16 minutes into the match when João Neves pounced on a rebound from the crossbar, placing the ball into the far corner of the net. Ramos followed suit in the 36th minute, converting from close range after a well-placed cross from Désiré Doué.
After the break, PSG continued to press, with Ramos netting his second of the night from the penalty spot in the 49th minute after Doué was brought down in the area. Doué then turned from provider to scorer, setting up Ramos again for his third in the 55th minute, giving the Portuguese striker a remarkable performance.
PSG did not let up, as Doué later assisted Senny Mayulu, who scored the sixth goal in the 66th minute. Substitute Ousmane Dembélé capped off the scoring with a powerful shot in the 85th minute, marking his 25th goal across all competitions this season.
PSG’s commanding victory came on the heels of a stunning upset in the tournament, as Dunkerque eliminated Guingamp, winning 3-2 on penalties. Despite Stade Briochin’s earlier victories against Ligue 1 opponents, including stunning wins over Le Havre and Nice, they struggled against the firepower of PSG.
Post-match, Coach Luis Enrique praised his team’s tactical flexibility, noting their relentless attacking mindset. “We played with great intensity, and everyone contributed today,” he said. “Our depth is a key factor, especially in knockout competitions.”
Stade Briochin coach Guillaume Allanou reflected on the match, stating, “We knew it would be a tough challenge. We had some moments defensively, but PSG’s quality was evident.” Despite the loss, he commended his players for reaching the quarterfinal stage, the furthest they’ve advanced since 1966.
As the tournament progresses, PSG remains a formidable contender for the Coupe de France, while Stade Briochin’s journey, though concluded, demonstrated their potential against higher-ranked teams.
