Paris Saint-Germain Eyes Ligue 1 Title Against Struggling Angers

PARIS, France — Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is set to host Angers at the Parc des Princes on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with the chance to clinch the Ligue 1 title. The Parisians need just one point against the struggling Angers side to secure their 13th league crown.
PSG, currently dominating the league standings with a significant lead, has remained unbeaten in the league all season. They recently entered the Coupe de France final after a thrilling 4-2 comeback victory against Ligue 2’s Dunkerque. The Parisians are looking to maintain momentum as they prepare for a crucial midweek Champions League quarter-final against Aston Villa.
The team, managed by Luis Enrique, will be missing Lee Kang-in due to injury but otherwise has most of its roster available. Enrique has opted for a strong lineup against Angers while also planning for rotation in preparation for the upcoming cup match.
“Our focus is on securing the title first,” said Enrique during a pre-match press conference. “We have a strong squad, and I expect the players to perform well against Angers.”
PSG has an impressive record against Angers, winning the last 15 encounters—a record streak in Ligue 1 history. In their previous nine meetings at the Parc des Princes, Angers has failed to score, conceding a total of 31 goals. Given PSG’s home dominance over newly-promoted teams, Angers’ chances appear slim.
Angers has struggled this season, currently sitting in 14th place, having lost their last four league games without scoring a single goal. They face mounting pressure as they are just three points above the relegation playoff spot. Midfielder Nabil Aholou returns from suspension for Angers, but injuries continue to plague the squad.
In light of PSG’s dominant form, statistical predictions favor a straightforward victory for the hosts. PSG’s scoring abilities have been impressive, evident in their recent 6-1 win over Saint-Etienne, where they showcased their attacking depth by rotating the squad.
Looking ahead, PSG will be aiming to extend their lead and secure the league title, while Angers will be fighting to avoid further relegation woes. Both teams face pivotal moments this weekend.
