Paris Saint-Germain Maintains Unbeaten Streak After Defeating Havre

PARIS, France – Paris Saint-Germain extended their unbeaten streak in the Ligue 1 2024-2025 season with a 2-1 victory over Havre at Parc des Princes on Saturday. Despite the win, PSG’s performance was not particularly impressive, as they faced a struggling opponent currently sitting in the relegation playoff spot.
Without star forward Ousmane Dembélé, who was rested, PSG showcased a heavily rotated squad. This match marked the 30th round of fixtures in the league, with the team inching closer to a record for unbeaten seasons. The game was played under heightened scrutiny due to sanctions affecting the Auteuil stand, which was partially closed after fans directed banners at player Adrien Rabiot.
Under the watchful eye of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, PSG’s head coach Luis Enrique implemented significant changes following a tight Champions League quarter-final against Aston Villa. Only two starters from the Villa match, Achraf Hakimi and Bradley Barcola, retained their places in the lineup.
The match began positively for PSG, as star player Désiré Doué opened the scoring in the 8th minute. Doué displayed skillful footwork to navigate past two defenders, marking his sixth goal of the season in Ligue 1 and boosting his tally to 13 for PSG. He later came close to providing a crucial assist, but Gonçalo Ramos failed to convert in the 75th minute.
Ramos did find the net, doubling the lead about fifteen minutes later when he nudged the ball home after another strong play initiated by Doué. However, PSG’s defense showed vulnerability, allowing Havre to score a consolation goal. Issa Soumaré headed the ball past goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, who was favored over Gianluigi Donnarumma for this match.
With this victory, PSG remains unbeaten as they prepare for a key away match against Nantes on Tuesday. Nantes currently holds the record for the longest unbeaten run in Ligue 1 history, adding extra stakes to the upcoming encounter.
