Patrik Laine Exits Pre-Season Game Due to Injury in Debut for Montreal
Patrik Laine, a forward for the Montreal Canadiens, exited a pre-season game on Saturday following an apparent knee-on-knee injury. The team’s management announced that Laine, aged 26, would not be returning to the match. This incident occurred as Laine attempted to penetrate the offensive zone when he was hit by an opposing player early in the first period. No penalty was called in response to the hit.
The Finnish winger appeared to be in significant pain as he was assisted off the ice and into the Canadiens’ locker room. This game marked Laine’s first appearance with Montreal after being acquired in an off-season trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
In addition to Laine’s departure, Montreal’s defenceman, David Reinbacher, also left the game due to an injury and has been ruled out for the remainder of the contest. Meanwhile, forward Juraj Slafkovsky temporarily departed the bench midway through the second period but made a quick return to action.
